About the event

Indonesia has, like most countries in Southeast Asia set climate targets, and the country aims to reach net-zero GHG emissions by 2060. Today Renewable Energy stands for 13% of the electricity mix, and this number is set to increase to 23% in 2025. Coal is the main source of electricity in Indonesia and stands for 61% of the power production and is expected to increase until the year 2027. It is clear that Indonesia, like many countries in the region, has a big challenge ahead to accelerate the energy transition to reach stated net-zero targets.

The good news is that Renewable Energy Resources in Indonesia are vast, and according to IRENA, the country has 3,7 TW of Renewable Energy Resources available. The largest Renewable Energy resource in Indonesia is Solar PV with a potential of almost 3 TW, followed by offshore wind with a potential of about 600 GW. There is no doubt that the country has a lot of Renewable Energy potential, and the question is how can these vast Renewable Energy resources be developed and integrated into the energy system?

This workshop held during the Electric & Power Indonesia 2023 show, aims to present, share, and discuss how to accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia by applying technology and solutions that exist today to increase energy efficiency and integrate more renewable energy into the energy system. Topics included in the session: Indonesia Energy Outlook, Energy Planning, District Cooling, and other innovative technology solutions to achieve the above target in energy efficiency towards net zero carbon emission in Indonesia including the New Capital of Nusantara. Join us and meet with the leading energy experts in the field and learn from their experiences on how to develop Sustainable Urban Energy Systems to support the Energy Transition in Indonesia!
